Tender Touch

Grooming Services

Our Grooming Salon is very friendly, homey, and cozy. Our clients are greeted as friends, welcomed with warmth and respect, offered a comfortable seat and a hot cup of coffee.

At Tender Touch, we groom one dog at a time. That means there is only one client in the shop at a time. No kennels are needed to “store” dogs as is done in more traditional grooming salons. No restraints are used during the grooming process either, and owners are welcome to stay and watch their dog being groomed. We do not ask dogs to be dropped off or left for extended periods of time. The grooming begins the minute you arrive for your appointment. We do not cage-dry like some other groomers do by leaving dogs crated and pointing a blow-dryer into the cage. We towel and blow-dry dogs by hand, giving the dog 100% of our attention.

As we have only one client in the salon at a time, when you arrive, please do not enter the building until your designated time.

With over 30 years of experience, Tender Touch welcomes all dogs and also specializes in dogs who are in need of our kind, patient approach, such as elderly dogs, dogs with histories of abuse, rescues, and dogs who are extremely anxious and fearful, including those who bite. We are often able to help dogs that have been turned away by other groomers.

A Word on Mats

Mats are terribly dangerous for a dog’s health and can cause pain, injury, and lead to illness. Please keep your dog free of mats. If you can not do it yourself, see a groomer frequently. Consider a utility-cut that is easy to keep mat-free.

We believe that attempting to comb out severe mats from a dog, whether they be few or many, is cruel, due to the potential for causing the dog great pain. We do not de-mat dogs and recommend shaving them down and starting over.

We provide a high-quality specialized service and part of that is our individualized attention. There is only one client booked into the salon at a time. Please do not stand outside the door or enter the grooming shop prior to your scheduled appointment time. Such distractions can startle pets being groomed.

No-shows, last minute cancellations, and late turn-outs greatly affect our bottom line and in order to continue providing our in-demand services the way we currently do, we have found it necessary to implement the following policies:

Late Policy

We respect your time and hope you will respect our time too. It may not be possible to do a full grooming on a dog if they arrive late for their appointment and we reserve the right to charge the full amount for the time that was booked.

No Shows

We send you a reminder about your appointment a couple of days ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss your appointment. If you miss the first appointment that you book with us, we are not likely to be able to fit you back into our schedule. If you are a regular client and for some reason do not show up for an appointment, we will try to keep you in our rotation, however, you will be required to pay the full grooming fee for the missed appointment before your next grooming. Understandably, we will have to let go of clients who repeatedly do not show up for appointments.

Cancellation Policy

Please provide at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we reserve the right to charge the full grooming fee unless we can find another dog to take your spot on short notice. If you are a new client coming for a first time grooming and you cancel your appointment, even with more than 24 hours notice, it may not be possible to find you another spot in our rotation. If you are a regular client and provide more than 24 hours notice, we will do our best to rebook you, so you do not have to miss a rotation, but, understand that may not always be possible.

Poor Driving Conditions

If we deem the winter road conditions not suitable for driving on the day of your appointment, we will notify you not to come and try to rebook you accordingly. No cancellation fee will apply if we make the call.
